This is a video that was recorded of a photoshoot I had with a band called “Amely” from Orlando, Florida. If you haven’t heard of them, you should definitely check them out on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/amely) or follow them on twitter (http://www.twitter.com/amelymusic).
The shoot took place in a sushi bar in Florida. The colored bubble lights in the background flashed different colors. The place was very cool.

Last night we saw Paranormal Activity. Admittedly, I was a little freaked out. I don’t think I handle horror movies too well, and I can truthfully say that there were more than a few scenes that made my jaw drop. I will definitely have trouble sleeping when I get back home to my creepy house - that’s a given.
We saw Honor Society tonight at Backbooth. They were amazing and definitely put on a great show. I would love to see them again sometime.

Loving this hat to death. Need it, want it, must have it.
Tonight I’m going to go see Paranormal Activity.. I might pee my pants, considering that even the commercials for it scare me.

I’ve been thinking a lot about winter lately. There are so many things I’m excited to do come Christmas time. I can’t wait to go outside and play in the snow and hum insanely catchy songs that only come once a year. Whenever I think about winter, it’s always a cozy feeling.
I’m ready to grab my faux fur jacket and venture out into a winter wonderland.
A few things I’m excited about this season:
Music: During the Winter I like to listen to a lot of mellow music. This includes Copeland, Death Cab For Cutie, Dashboard Confessional, Sufjan Stevens, Damien Rice. I can’t wait to pull out my seasonal playlist, it always goes with my mood perfectly.
Movies: I love love loveee the movie “Elf,” I am definitely excited about pulling that flick from the vault, along with “Home Alone” (only the original), “a Christmas Carol”, and then of course my Tim Burton Movies: “Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride.”

One thing I’ve learned is kindness is absolutely free. It doesn’t cost a cent. And once you can grasp that concept, the world around you becomes a better place. Compliments take only a second and good deeds are priceless.
My family always goes out to brunch on Sundays, we go to a really nice hotel on the waterfront. It’s perfect there, even on the worst of days. Every Sunday I see a man in his 50s taking his mother, who must be in her 90s out to brunch. She is obviously in assisted living at a nursing home. Many “kids” stick their parents in these places and forget about them, and never visit. I think that is one of the saddest things in our society. That is why seeing this man take out his mother every Sunday is one of the most beautiful things I see.
Today is “dia de los muertos,” its a holiday to celebrate the lives of those lost. This goes along with kindness. I lost a very good friend of mine a year ago, he meant a lot to me. I remember wishing that I could have been around more as a friend, there’s nothing I can do now, but what I have learned is cherish the people who are close to you NOW. That way you can never regret it later.

I’m really intrigued by this picture. I photographed a party a few weeks ago in Boston. I don’t know their names, and I probably couldn’t recognize them on the street- but the picture says it all, and that’s all you need to know.

Halloween was a success. I wasn’t much into going out tonight, but I did spend some time at home with a few close friends. We watched the classic Halloween movies (hocus pocus, nightmare before christmas, donnie darko) and even a few black and whites. My teeth may very well fall out in the morning because of all the sugared goodies I consumed tonight. But hey, it’s halloween, when else can you eat junk and feel COMPLETELY ok with it?

I couldn’t be any happier with my boy. I’m really excited to see him next week.

Something wicked and exciting this way comes..
I’m so happy to announce the new look of my blog. It’s something that I’ve been meaning to get up and running since September. This has been a two month ordeal, but atlast it’s finished!!
My new blog will include pictures that inspire me, pictures I’ve taken, quotes, videos, music, anything that impacts my life. I have spent the last few months getting my life in order and planning for the future, so hopefully that blast of confidence will show through here. It is finally November, it’s the homestretch of 2009. This year has been very fulfilling- full of highs and lows; nevertheless, it’s been quite the journey I’m proud of. I expect nothing less from these next two months.
I’m excited to share my days and thoughts with you all. I will do my best to update daily.
Love Always,
Nikki Striebel
